International Trade

Santa Catarina has a robust and innovative industrial sector that is linked to global supply chains. Products from the state are exported to some 190 countries, while regional companies advance to become multinational ones and foreign-based multinationals find investment opportunities in the state.

More than simply offering industrialized products, Santa Catarina industry invests in innovation, design, marketing, distribution and brands, to increasingly and consistently insert itself in international markets.

Export 2014

 

  • Santa Catarina is among Brazil’s largest producers and exporters of poultry and pork. Close to 11% of international chicken sales from Brazil are from the state and the world’s largest processor and exporter of chicken meat is based in Santa Catarina.
  • Some of the world’s largest suppliers of electrical motors, generators and compressors for refrigeration are located in Santa Catarina. The state also stands out in the global supply of home appliances and dental equipment.
  • Manufacturers of automotive parts supply items such as motor blocks and heads directly to the world’s largest automobile manufacturers.
  • The state leads Latin America in production of wall and floor tiles and porcelanato and is the second largest exporter in Brazil.
  • The furniture industry is essentially aimed at foreign trade. Santa Catarina is Brazil’s third largest exporter in this sector. The state’s lumber industry leads Brazil in the production and export of pine doors and jambs.
  • Santa Catarina stands out globally in the production of textiles and clothing. It is Brazil’s largest exporter of kitchen and bath linens, cotton toweling and knit shirts
  • With high forestry technology to increase yields in tree growth, the Santa Catarina paper and pulp industry is among the world’s most competitive.
